A good friend of mine coaches volleyball for a local club. They take part in tournaments around Western Washington and last Saturday they had one down in Tacoma, he invited me to check it out so I thought I’d go down and hang out and watch his team play for the day. After their last game of the day he really wanted me to meet his team, I was a bit confused and didn’t really know why, unbeknownst to me, he has told his team about me.
After the last game, we were outside at his vehicle talking about the games and what not. I asked him what he had told his team about me, what he said made me think… He’s used me as an example of someone that has been through tough times, but always made sure those around me were happy despite what was going on with myself. I don’t think of myself as a role model in any way. I could sense that it was tough for him to share this with me, and I didn’t really know how to react other than to say, thank you. It did however inspire me, and maybe that’s a good thing to take away from it. Let’s all be a positive role model for someone whether we know it or not. You never know who’s life you might be changing.
Think positive and positive happens.
